Mike and his wife Mary-Kate care about creating an amazing, supportive community of people around them, local food, sustainable living, and environmental design. They live in downtown Guelph, On. and are transforming their house and yard into an urban farm.
They have had backyard hens for 12 years and loved watching children learn to hold chickens, discover eggs, and develop a connection with their food. Working out a lot of the challenges made them excited to help other people get backyard hens. Mike believes there should be a chicken in every willing backyard in Guelph. Besides chickens there is also great interest in growing more vegetables in small spaces using permaculture principles.
